About the Artist

Todd Redmond, Earth-Marks’ owner, grew up on a farm in Illinois where he was surrounded by the lushness of the natural world. His interest in nature and the earth led him into the exploration of pottery in college. In 1989 he received a bachelor’s degree in ceramics from Illinois State University. After graduation he moved to the Rocky Mountains and began making individually rolled and imprinted tiles that captured his love of the outdoors and the beauty of the ceramic medium.

“In the age of mass production and duplication I feel so lucky to be able to work with my hands to create one-of-a-kind tiles that possess the warmth and integrity that can only be found in something handmade.
I believe you will enjoy bringing the beauty of nature inside your home with Earth-Marks tiles.”

Todd has been creating ceramic art for over fifteen years and now resides in Westminster, Colorado, with his wife and sons. He demonstrates the art of tile making in the photos below.

First, the clay
is hand-rolled and checked for proper thickness

Second, an imprint
is made and the
tile is cut.
Finally, the tiles are dried and kiln-fired to remove moisture.

The tiles are then
individually glazed
in one of our eleven
colors and fired again.
